Made in [workshop town]

Kustomik is a small woodworking studio in [workshop town], [country]. For now we make one thing: oak shelves cut to the measurements of your wall.

Why made to measure

Shelves from the shop come in a handful of widths. Walls don't. A shelf that fits its niche to the centimetre looks like part of the room, so we make each one to the size you set.

Japandi, plainly

Our design draws on two traditions: the Japanese respect for natural material, imperfections included, and the Scandinavian preference for simple, useful, comfortable things. For a shelf, that means solid wood with its grain on show, clean lines, and nothing on the wall that doesn't need to be there.

How an order is made

Your layout reaches the workshop as a cut list: the exact size of every board and the position of every rod hole. We cut each board, drill the holes, soften the edges, sand and oil the wood, check every part against the list, and pack it for the journey.

Wood we can trace

We buy our oak from [timber supplier] in [origin of the oak]. [timber supplier] records where each batch was harvested, as the EU Deforestation Regulation requires for wood sold in the EU.
